Track Your RefundWhen will you receive your refund?

It depends on how you filed your return….up to eight weeks if you filed a paper return and requested a regular check. If you filed electronically and requested your refund to be directly deposited, you could receive your refund as quickly as one week.

Tax Due Dates
January 10Employees – who work for tips. If you received $20 or more in tips during December report them to your employer. You can use Form 4070.
January 14IRS begin accepting electronic filings for 2009 individual tax returns.
4th Quarter 2009 Estimated Tax Payment Due If you are self employed or have other fourth-quarter income that requires you to pay quarterly estimated taxes, get them postmarked by January 15, 2010
February 1W-2s are due from your employer. Forms 1099 are due from payers of interest, dividends and other specified types of income.
If you didn’t pay your last installment of 2009 estimated tax by Jan. 15, you may choose (but are not required) to file your income tax return (Form 1040) today. This will prevent any penalty for late payment of the last installment, if payment of tax is also paid at this time.
February 15If you were exempt from income tax withholding for 2009, you must file a new Form W-4 to continue your exemption for the next tax year.
April 15Individual Tax Returns Due Apply for an Extension by midnight, 04/15/10
1st Quarter 2010 Estimated Tax Payment Due If you are self employed or have other fourth-quarter income that requires you to pay quarterly estimated taxes, Form 1040-ES, get them postmarked by April 15, 2010
Last Day to make a 2009 IRA Contribution If you haven’t already funded your IRA retirement account for 2009, do so by April 15, 2010. If you have a Keogh or SEP and you get a filing extension until 10/15/10, you can wait until then to put money into those accounts.
